Hello Dancers!

The Atlanta Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society is proud to celebrate it’s 50th anniversary this year! Since 1976, we have all enjoyed the dancing, but more importantly, the laughter, fellowship, and fun, that have followed.

Just a few short weeks ago many of us danced together at the annual Spring Workshop, made special with some added anniversary festivities. It was a wonderful event, and we feel so grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to making it so successful. We approached 100 dancers, unveiled our 50th anniversary book, and connected with friends from far and near.

To continue our year of celebrations, we are planning an Anniversary Luncheon, and you are invited! In lieu of our normal April Social, we will be hosting an extended event. We will meet in the fellowship hall at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Marietta at noon. The branch will be providing lunch, and the normal social fee is waived for the occasion. We are hoping that any Atlanta dancer from the past 50 years will join us for the camaraderie. If you know any current or former dancers from the area, please pass the invite along!

After lunch, we are hosting a social dance. The program, devised by Susan Tumlin and Bob Messner, features walkable dances, old favorites, and some new offerings from our 50th anniversary book (which will be available for anyone wanting to collect). Whether you choose to dance, walk, or watch, it should be an enjoyable afternoon for everyone.

While the Spring Workshop was a grand affair, we are hoping this luncheon will provide a more intimate environment for Atlanta dancers to reconnect, laugh, and share memories. Whether it’s been a while since we’ve seen you or we saw you last week, we hope you will attend- your presence is the best anniversary present!
