Norcross Saturday Class: Saturday, 1/4 (next class 1/25)

Scottish Country Dance basic class – Norcross 1/4/(Sa) class notes >>> Next class is on 1/25 (4th Saturday, Jan only) at 2:00pm

Hello Norcross Saturday class dancers,For those who came, thank you. We enjoyed 1 set of 8 dancers together. For those who missed last Saturday, do not worry.  SCD is still here. Please come next time and let me know prior, it would be appreciated.
Now we practiced:[general appearance of SCD]   Use of hands = As you pass by or turn circles, always shoulder height of the shorter person between you and dancers dancing with you.  Nice ‘W’ shape.

Teamwork  = the 1st requirement of SCD, that is accomplished by keeping eye contact with your partner and dancers whom you dance (actually move with). Teamwork is also responsible by supporting couples, such as moving toward dancing couples to make, say, turn easier.

[Allemande for 2 couples]   Key 1: this is a progression. That is, when finished, the two couples change places.   Key 2: Bar 5 to line up on men’s side to dance in while lady person twirl under man person’s right arm….

[Promenade for 2 couples}  Key:  Up to Bar 7, dancers are still dancing up the center. Only Bar 8 to separate and to your starting position on each side.           This is the same regardless Promenade is for 3 couple or 4 couples.  Remember “7-UP”[Reel of Three]  Key: 3 points=
1. Right shoulder reel >>> dancers facing each other with the center dancer will pass by their right shoulders (go left)
2. If  8-bar reel of three, at bar 4, all dancers should be at the half way point. If 6-bar reel, then this is at bar 3.
3. When crossing the center, first, let other dancer cross in front of you
