Norcross Saturday Class: Saturday, 1/25

Hello Norcross Saturday class dancers,
Here are the 1/25 class notes.   We challenged basic-to-intermediate level dance called Duke of Perth. We learned:[corners]   1st corner = diagonally RIGHT next to your partner on the opposite line   2nd corner = diagonally LEFT next to your partner on the opposite line

[Turn 1st corners, partner, 2nd corners and partner]
Key 1: two bar each. Must giving weight to each other with tighter grip to turn quickly
Key 2: After turning the 1st corner, turning partner is more than 1 (1 1/4 times) to face 2nd corner. Very quick and tight.

[Set and turn corners in reel and jig time]At first, with 1st corners, then with 2nd corners
Key 1: Dance with pas de basque and both hands open with elbow down (because this is a quick tempo)
Key 2: two bars to turn once around then face next dancer
Key 3: Pas de basque starts immediately with right foot crossing leftward in front to move yourself to the left   (This is quick so be aware)

[6 bar Reel of Three followed by Set and Turn Corners]
Key 1: It is always starting with 1st corners passing left shoulder on the side
Key 2:  points=
1.  Left shoulder reel >>> dancers facing each other with the center dancer will pass by their left shoulders (go right)
2. If  6-bar reel of three, at bar 3, all dancers should be at the half way point. If 8-bar reel, then this is at bar 4.
3. When crossing the center, first, let other dancer cross in front of you
Here are the dances we practiced

Lastly, please get used to…[general appearance of SCD]
1. Use of hands = As you pass by or turn circles, always shoulder height of the shorter person between you and dancers dancing with you. Nice ‘W’ shape.
2. Teamwork        Formations learned this time really need supporting couples’ help to turn in time and directions 1st couple goes to.
See you next Saturday (2/1)
