Lexington Scottish Country Dance Society will be having a workshop and dance on Saturday, May 30, 2026.  The workshop will take place 2-5pm.  The workshop is for dancers who know the basic steps (skip change, slip step, pad de basque, and strathspey traveling and setting) as well as reels of 3 and 4, corner figures, pousette, and allemande.  There will be a break for dinner which is on your own.  A social dance will begin at 7:30pm.

Tracey Applebee will teaching the workshop.  Tracey is a certified RSCDS teacher who has taught classes and workshops in the US and Canada.  She was raised in Canada and her mother was a certificated teacher as well.  Her parents would have dance parties in the basement to Jimmy Shand recordings.  The family later moved to Detroit where Tracey continued to dance and was encouraged to become a teacher.  She received her full certificate in 1994 at TAC.  She has been actively teaching in the Cincinnati area since.  She is an occupational therapist and able to analyze movements to help people improve and enjoy dancing.

Live music will be provided during the social dance by Keltricity.  Keltricity is a Celtic World band playing music of Scotland, Ireland, Cape Breton, England, Brittany, New England, etc.  They play for Scottish Country Dances, English Country Dances, and other vintage dance groups.

Registration should be submitted to Joyce Chase for the workshop and/or dance. Cost is $50 to attend both workshop and dance. Cost is $30 to attend only the workshop or only the dance. Local dancers may be able to provided limited hospitality. Contact Paige Quillen if hospitality is needed. A block of rooms has been held until April 29 at Hampton Inn in Frankfort, KY for $137 for double queen. Hampton Inn is 15 miles from Midway and can be reached at (502)223-7600. There are a number of bed and breakfast establishments also available in the Midway area.
