Beware of Email Scammers
Please be on your guard for an email scam that appears to be from the Atlanta Branch, even if it looks authentic and especially if it asks for money. Some branch members as well as other branches/groups have received scam emails purportedly that came from an RSCDS email address, and there was no way to tell who actually had sent it. The scam email showed the Atlanta Branch logo in the body of the email, and asked for donations to a GoFundMe site to pay for surgery for a little boy with a brain tumor. This email was not sent by our branch.
Our Atlanta Branch officers alerted our Branch members that this was a scam email, but were also made aware this scam email had been circulated to other branches/groups. Without any substantiating information, the email is evidently a scam and a heartbreaking one at that, especially with the picture of the little boy in a hospital bed hooked up to all kinds of tubes and machines.
This scam email was not sent by the Atlanta Branch RSCDS – please be careful and don’t be taken in.
Please reach out to your contacts in the Atlanta Branch RSCDS if you have any further questions. Thank you,
Sylvia Priest
Secretary, Atlanta Branch RSCDS
